Boston Government Services is seeking a remote Welding Subject Matter Expert to support our team at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the subject matter expert and provide advice in highly specialized area of organization management.
• Provide when requested, pre-fabrication submittal review and approval, fabrication submittal review and approval, provide input.
• Aid in the development of fabrication inspection plans, hold point inspections in fabrication shops, and witness fabrication shop activities per developed Inspection plans.
• Represent LANL in the witnessing of hold points, surveillance inspection program, surveillance inspection program support and critical fabrication processes.
• Provide mentoring to LANL Project support and discipline engineers.
• Provide feedback on fabrication shop performance.
• Travel to multiple Fabrication shops across the United States to perform the following but not limited to, SME Welding Inspection, Witnessing of critical hold points and technical support services.
• Provide General Welding Inspection SME support as needed if not described above.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• PhD or master’s degree with specialized training and extensive experience with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and Inspection fields.
• Professional license, or certifications (current or expired) in the following:
  • AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE)
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector
  • AWS Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS)
  • International Institute of Welding Engineer (IWE)
  • American Petroleum Institute (API) 510 Certified Pressure Vessel Inspector
  • API 570 Certified Process Piping Inspector.
• Extensive knowledge of ASME/API welding codes.
• 20 or more years of highly specialized professional experience.
• Must be US citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Location/Work Arrangement:

This position is 4 day a week, 10 hour a day remote position with some travel / onsite requirements. Work week will vary depending on travel and project workload requirement.

Starting compensation for this role typically salary ranges between $229,000 and $259,000 annually is commensurate with experience relative to the position and may vary based on candidate geographical location.
