Boston Consulting Group is Hiring a Senior Knowledge Analyst - Customer Demand & Innovation Near Chicago, IL

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Senior Knowledge Analyst (SKA) In a Client Focused role within BCG's Marketing, Sales, and Pricing (MSP) Practice Area, you will work in a growing global team, delivering value to clients via individual expertise and/or institutionalized knowledge assets (products, tools, data, workshops, frameworks, surveys, domain-specific data and related expertise, etc.) for the Customer Demand & Innovation (CDI) topic. You will be working within the rapidly growing Center for Customer Insight (CCI) and play a critical role in helping customer insights projects succeed by supporting the execution of quantitative and qualitative primary consumer research efforts, translating research into meaningful insights, and communicating recommendations to internal teams.
You will contribute on cases and proposals by contributing relevant analysis and insights and help case teams create strong impact for the client. CD&I projects ignite growth for our global clients across industries through best-in-class insights on customer behavior and needs. One project may involve writing a survey to inform the investment thesis for a consumer products client looking at an acquisition in a new category. Another project may involve developing, executing, and synthesizing new qualitative and quantitative research to inform service Innovation for a travel and tourism client. Yet another may necessitate research to renovate the employer branding for a fashion and luxury client. While contributing to client projects, occasional travel to serve clients onsite during staffing assignments is expected to understand client requirements, and design / develop solutions.
You will also support commercialization efforts for the Customer Demand & Innovation (CDI) topic in conjunction with business leaders, through contributing analysis and insights to proposals, client workshops and marketing materials. Additionally, as a Senior Knowledge Analyst, you will contribute to developing intellectual property & assets for the business and assist in onboarding and training junior colleagues based on your CD&I expertise.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
  • Solving client problems through formulating relevant research and/or analytical approaches in your area of expertise
  • Developing customized primary consumer / customer research approaches from scratch based on client needs
  • Synthesizing complex quantitative and qualitative data into clear, actionable insights
  • Communicating with case teams and clients team members, in a credible and confident way
  • Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
  • Being flexible and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas
  • Working in an ever-changing and complex environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and navigating a fast-paced environment
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • 1-2 years of consulting experience in relevant Customer Demand & Innovation topic required; candidates with consulting experience strongly preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 2 years minimum industry experience required; 3-6 years of industry experience strongly preferred from a market research agency with direct experience using quantitative research to address a range of business problems (experience with qualitative research and/or social listening a plus)
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of consumer research: designing the approach / sample, writing questionnaires / discussion guides, managing fieldwork and related vendors, developing analytic plans, conducting data analysis, preparing compelling deliverables
  • Experience in a range of research methodologies (e.g., MaxDiff, TURF, segmentation, conjoint, derived importance, attitudes & usage studies, focus groups, online communities, etc.)
  • Preference for candidates with demonstrated experience using analytical skills to generate insights that inform business strategy. Mastery of Excel required; familiarity with tools such as Alteryx, SPSS, Tableau a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Fluency in English; other languages requested in certain locations
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
YOU'LL WORK WITH
As a Client Focus KT, you will work face to face with BCG Project Leaders, Associates and Consultants on client projects. In the period between client projects, you will collaborate with global topic leads and colleagues across BCG to bring expertise and capabilities to the service of our internal and external clients. Our team is made up a diverse pool of knowledge positions that allow us to pursue exciting, innovative knowledge careers.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and/or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for case teams and clients. KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools/assets to deliver insight.
BCG's Knowledge Team members have the opportunity to be staffed on cases and help co-create insights with case teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information. KT members also support the PA's business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG's Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.
