Job DescriptionPosition Summary:The Design Manager is responsible for managing and leading a mechanical development team in order to ensure the on-time development of reliable products that are cost effective, meet customer specifications and maintain company standards.Position Responsibilities:Manage, expand and develop design engineering group with the goal to provide high quality and on time mechanical design for EPS gearsProvide customers first escalation level to support clarification of specifications and resolution of problems. Develop alternative action plans to address problems and/or schedule delays; suggest compromises and recommend ways to recover project time lostProvide strategic guidance to direct team and project towards achieving internal and customer goalsStrengthen relationships between Bosch Design Team and internal / external customersHandle and assign projects to project groups to develop customer specific design solutions according to internal and external requirements under consideration of the Product Development Process within Bosch Vehicle MotionSupport acquisition programs through review and evaluation of customer mechanical requirementsSupport acquisition process through creation of configurator models, BOM, BGD, etc and provide input for Design portion of ED&TSupport all involved departments (validation, integration, production, commercial…) in all Design related questions and issuesDevelop and operate within department budget and perform headcount planning in support of Business PlanParticipate in improving the product development strategyComplete all projects within departmental operative procedures company policies and professional standardsWork with other departments as necessary to define potential new business/project opportunities Work with project team to establish and maintain contacts at OEMSet priorities of assigned work and obtain supervisor's approvalEvaluate engineering operations, review work of design engineering personnel, maintain records, enforce company rules, review performance, and make recommendations in personnel decisionsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBasic Qualifications:10 years of experience in automotive developmentBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from four-year college or universityVersed in problem solving methodologiesProficient with MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPointFundamental CAD / FEA knowledgeLimited travel including international is possiblePreferred Qualifications:3 years of direct or lateral leadershipMasters of Engineering degree in mechanical engineeringProficient with CREO, PDM LinkFE/PE certificationGerman language skillsInternational experience (work abroad)Demonstrated proficiency in DFSS and/or Red-X methodologiesExperience in project acquisitionAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only.
