Borusan Pipe U.S., Inc. is Hiring a SRM Mill Helper Near Baytown, TX

Description:

The SRM Mill Helper shall perform the functions of producing SRM pipe in accordance with the ASTM-API or plant policies and procedures. The employee will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are the same as the conditions provided in the pipe manufacturing industry. Working environment temperature is in parallel with weather conditions. It requires working in dusty, noisy, and greasy environments. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds, and standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. Qualifications:

1.1. A High School diploma or GED equivalent.

1.2. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools, and hand-held measurement devices.

1.4. Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy and apply concepts of basic math.

1.5. Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery and handheld technical devices.

1.6. Understand machine mechanical functionality and conduct in depth cleaning of Mill when scheduled.

1.7. Ability to work in harmony with coworkers.

1.8. Must possess sense of urgency in fast-paced environment, while working safely.

1.9. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

2. Responsibilities:

2.1. Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and after the sizing passes finished products to verify conformance to product/quality specifications.

2.2. Read and understand production order copy for every production run and assist operator in ensuring quality (includes basic corrugated terminology).

2.3. Adjust correct machine set-up gap/upset parameters, reshape pipe form, and eliminate product defects. Set up, breakdown, and cluster passages according to these parameters.

2.4. Communicating and working together with the Mill operator and SRM operator.

2.5. Learn and practice good lock out/ tag out procedures, change rolls, operate mill equipment, and set ups during changeovers.

2.6. Check, observe, and monitor for welding adjustments, welding parameters, and regulate speeds of machine.

2.7. Working in partnership with the SRM Mill Operator and following their instructions.

2.8. Assisting to setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions and installation procedures.

2.9. Assisting that ID/OD scarf equipment is working efficiently and is set up correctly.

2.10. Change the tracking cut of saw blade as needed.

2.11. Take samples for process control, label properly, and ensure compliance.

2.12. Inspect the Crane ropes or grappling devices for wear and tear.

2.13. Deliver scrap waste to proper dept when scrap truck is full, and accurately tag for waste reporting.

2.14. Perform a visual inspection before the beginning of the shift and report any issues to Supervisor and Engineer.

2.15. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

2.16. Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

3. Activities:

3.1. Set distance points between rolls, guides, forming and sizing passages according to specifications.

3.2. Check that the welding generator is working efficiently and set-up correct parameters before the start of shift.

3.3. Ensure that all the forming and sizing passages are in proper condition and aligned to the incoming coil strip.

3.4. Ensure that the ID scarfing equipment is working efficiently and maintained.

3.5. Check the ID and OD scarf removing equipment cutting tools.

3.6. Ensure that the welding parameters are adjusted and recorded according to pipe sizes.

3.7. Check for ovality, pipe sizes, OD, impeder/ID scarfing positions and visually inspect for marking on the pipe.

3.8. Clean and service all the equipment during scheduled maintenance and downtime.

3.9. Record SRM mill production in MES.

3.10. Identify the causes of operational errors and inform supervisors and engineers of them.

3.11. Check the SRM Pipe Mill is properly serviced before starting up and during shift.

3.12. Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.

3.13. Communicate with crew and other departments to achieve a quality product.

3.14. Assist in changeovers and mill stops.

3.15. This position may require operating a Forklift and Overhead Crane.

3.16. Other duties as assigned.

4.Authority and Obligation:

4.1. This position has the authority to stop mill operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety, quality, or priority.
