Border Servant Corps is Hiring a Director of Operations Near El Paso, TX

ABOUT US

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Operations works independently to perform a wide range of advanced executive level, complex and confidential administrative duties.

The Director of Operations must be able to multitask, be mission and results driven, and be able to execute responsibilities in a nonprofit environment. The ideal individual should exercise good judgment and possess strong written and verbal communication skills along with administrative, organizational, and time management skills. They should be able to work independently and have discretion with handling confidential information, with strong attention to detail.

OBJECTIVES

  • Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity
  • Work with project managers in the development of financial and budgetary plans
  • Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives
  • Planning, monitoring, and analyzing key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Developing and executing new growth directives
  • Working with the human resources department to create job descriptions, hire competent personnel and oversee employee training programs
  • Working with the human resources department to develop and implement staff evaluation parameters
  • Making decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals, drawing on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors
  • Liaising with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure organization-wide operational compliance
  • Keeping track of the organization’s revenue margins and conduct budget reviews to support financial stewardship
  • Overseeing client support services
  • Managing procurement and resource allocation
  • Supervising the operational team and working closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
  • Communicating and explaining new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meeting with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale
  • Adhering to the organization's policies and standards, and ensuring that laws and regulations are being followed
  • Proactively responding to a wide variety of requests with expeditious action and a positive, consultative approach

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years in a senior leadership role in a related field
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, backed by previous success
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills
  • Culturally competent and invested in collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting organizational demands
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines
  • Comfort working for a faith-based employer, as Border Servant Corps is a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration or related field
  • Professionally proficient in English and Spanish, written and verbal
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Excellent negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using management software
