This Shift Leader job contributes to BOPOMOFO CAFE’s success by assisting the Assistant Store Manager as well as the Store Manager in executing store operations during scheduled shifts. The pivotal daily responsibility of the Shift Leader encompasses preparing fresh ingredients for our beverages, proficiently managing pars, excelling in forecasting to optimize operations, and delegating tasks to ensure team members create and uphold an exceptional customer experience. Your role is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with BOPOMOFO’s guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of BOPOMOFO CAFE. Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or fast-paced events to keep the store operating to standard and to set a positive example for other team members.
• Anticipates customers and stores’ needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for cues. Communicates information to the managers so that the team can respond as necessary.
• Assists with new team member training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Provides feedback to the Assistant Store Manager and/or Store Manager on team member performances during shift with daily shift reports.
• Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in team members’ morale and performance and communicating them to the Assistant Store Manager and/or Store Manager.
• Creates a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to team members on shift to ensure operational excellence and to improve team member performance.
• Delivers exceptional customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and assisting with the customers’ needs. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
• Develops positive relationships with shift team members by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs and concerns.
• Executes store operations during scheduled shifts. Organizes opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Follows BOPOMOFO CAFE’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash/register handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift.
• Follows all cash management and cash register policies and ensures proper cash management practices are followed by shift team members.
• Follows up with team members during the shift to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service for all customers.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Provides quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
• Prepare fresh ingredients to use for beverages daily, demonstrating an understanding of pars and the ability to forecast needs accurately.

Summary of Experience

Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a café environment.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
