Role Overview

Boom Supersonic is seeking an experienced and versatile Industrial Design Prototyper to join our team. Successful applicants will bring expertise in 3D design, prototyping, design for manufacturing, and human factors to support Overture product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of mockups and prototypes of physical products and experiences for the Overture passenger experience
• Support the day-to-day activities in the PX Lab and be a key player in activating and utilizing this space, including preparing for tours, research activities, and maintaining tools and equipment
• Manage the use and maintenance of our in-house prototyping tools
• Create 3D CAD data to support prototyping and product development
• Support internal teams and on-site partners in the development and installation of physical mock-ups and prototypes using our in-house tools

Required Education, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor degree in industrial design, design engineering, or equivalent with 5 or more years of experience in a relevant field
• Demonstrated proficiency with at least one CAD system
• Excellent communication skills, ability to interface effectively with different groups internally as well as existing and potential suppliers
• Demonstrated experience creating CAD models and designing components and structures for prototyping
• Team building communication skills, the ability to interface effectively with different groups internally and externally
• Problem-solving and collaboration skills are a must; can work with large teams to solve complex, ambiguous technical problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with different groups internally and externally
• Maintain clean organized working environment, ensuring that accountability for tooling and material is maintained
• Assisting in planning projects and providing necessary support to meet deadlines

Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities

• Experience in design research, graphic design, or other related disciplines
• Experience programming and operating a CNC router table
• Experience programming and operating a laser cutter
• Experience with a variety of paint and finishing techniques

Compensation

The Base Salary Range for this position is $81,000 - $95,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
