What You’ll Do:
The Research & Development Flavorist and Brewer will help drive Boochcraft toward greater competitiveness and customer satisfaction through improvements in delivery, capacity, yield, quality and test new flavors and pilot batches.
This position will be responsible for the day to day activities in the R&D brewery and to adhere to company policies and SOPs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Boochcraft’s company values while representing the Company with enthusiasm and confidence.
  •  Ensure a safe workplace for themselves and others and communicate safety issues to upper management as they arise.
  •  Maintain a professional work environment that fosters a collaborative team spirit with respect for each individual.
  •  Update and validate SOPs for brewing use.
  •  Monitor KPIs and report them out.
  •  Ensure short and long-term R&D production goals, objectives, and plans are met, subject to approval by the R&D Manager.
  •  Perform standardized analytical testing which includes but is not limited to: pH, gravity, dissolved carbon dioxide, dissolved oxygen, flow meter readings, ABV, and TA.
  •  Accurate data collection and recording on brewing logs and in laboratory notebook.
  •  Adhere to the Quality Management System and provide inputs toward continually improving its scope and effectiveness.
  •  Maintain brewery equipment to minimize unplanned downtime delays, to include the cleaning of all equipment and facility operations.
  •  Drive a safe working environment for all brewery personnel by enforcing SOPs and safe work practices and the use of proper PPE.
  •  Perform any and/or all brewery tasks as part of the R&D production team. Such as but not limited to: any assistant brewer tasks, primary brewing, secondary pitching, infusions, juicing, juice additions, tank transfers and kegging product.
  •  Perform and set up regular sensory tastings on the product and help create sensory descriptors for newly released product.
  •  Work through, design and create solutions to carry out process improvements for brewing operations in the R&D brewery as well as the main production facility.
  •  Work through, design and develop new flavors and products trials in the R&D brewery as well as effectively scale-up creations.
  •  Inventory management in the R&D brewery and R&D facility, including transactions through Ekos.

What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) from an accredited institution in Brewing or Fermentation Science, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science or Engineering, or High school education and equivalent education and experience
  •  Minimum 6 months of experience in a food or beverage company and experience and knowledge in Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices. Innovation and fermentation experience is a plus.
  •  Certificate in brewing and/or food science from an accredited program is preferred.

Ability to perform and follow all SOPs and have the initiative to run research experiments independently.

Individual must be able to perform physical activities which include but are not limited to lifting, bending over, kneeling, twisting, climbing on ladders, stooping, crouching, and routinely lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. They may be required to stand for various hours at a time. This person is expected to use/operate latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, pumps, valves, etc., that will require dexterity, manipulation and hand-eye coordination.
Due to varying business needs, this candidate must be able to work anytime within a 1st or 2nd shift window with the occasional overnight and/or weekend coverage. They will be expected to occasionally handle hazardous chemicals.

Compensation\: The range for this position is $21.75 to $24.75
