Position Description: An experienced farmer to help plant, maintain and harvest crops at Extension at Bonton Farms. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the farm team and crop production. Bonton Farms is the largest urban farm in the United States with two locations and over 40-acres in production.
Responsibilities:
- Attend a daily farm meeting to learn about needs for the day
- Prepare rows and plots for planting
- Maintain rows according to Bonton Farm standards including watering, weeding and pruning
- Harvest at least twice a week including harvesting, bunching and cleaning to be delivered to market
- Help maintain the farm by cleaning supplies, putting up tools, etc.
- Assist in greeting and leading volunteer groups that come to assist with a high degree of customer service representative of Bonton Farms
Requirements:
- Previous experience working on a farm in particular helping with harvesting and planting
- Understanding of farm techniques
- Accuracy in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working on a farm. In addition, the candidate would have an understanding and passion for the mission of Bonton Farms.'
