To learn more about Bonneville and how our local media matters, visit: https://bonneville.com/ Position Overview The On Call General Assignments Editor / Anchor / Reporter / Producer will serve as a fill in, back up and work with news and talk teams to create and deliver stories via broadcast and digital platforms. The individual in this on call role must show an aptitude for broadcast delivery and the production of factual, well-written, contemporary news that is informative, compelling, and entertaining. This position will be expected to contribute stories to talk shows and the news department, as well as social media platforms and MyNorthwest.com. The GA Editor / Anchor / Producer needs to have ability to work with little supervision in a deadline-oriented environment and needs to have the ability to multi-task and clearly communicate with teammates under high-stress situations. The GA Editor / Anchor / Reporter / Producer role serves as news desk support and back up to other newsroom roles. This position will primarily serve as back up for KIRO Editors and Anchors and may be asked to back up reporters and/or producers. Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion. This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to work at our Seattle site. What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to: Develop news content for newscasts, talk shows and MyNorthwest Maintain a consistent, high degree of news accuracy and station branding Find, record, edit and mix audio on deadline Write accurate and compelling news scripts Help frame, develop, and manage host(s) ideas/opinions/story angles Find and book guests and news-maker interviews; cultivate a wide range of news resources and contacts Work quickly and efficiently; must be able to respond aggressively to breaking news situations and resolve unexpected problems Maintain working fluency of technical systems that keep Bonneville Seattle’s three radio stations on air Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Must have flexibility in weekly schedule in order to provide backup coverage where needed from week to week; on call hours could occur between the hours of 3am-10pm. Able to write factual and compelling news copy Able to create and voice professionally broadcast newscasts both live and recorded Able to seamlessly record and edit audio Computer-literate with the technical ability to operate studio equipment Understanding of social media platforms and ability to contribute to various platforms Able to work independently (self-starter) and with a team Well organized with a high attention to detail Excellent time management skills A deep understanding of journalistic standards, ethics, and expectations Proven news judgment and expertise in local news Ability to find, develop and deliver compelling news stories and enterprise new content Outstanding writing, editing and production skills Concise, compelling, and conversational broadcast writing skills and the ability to orally deliver on-air newscasts Consistently work hours required. Works more when required to meet deadlines or fill-in including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc. Proven ability multi-task and communicate clearly and calmly in stressful situations. Able to take direction/feedback and incorporate into work. Work effectively in a team environment. Four (4) years post high school education in journalism or relevant communications program, preferred. Experience in the fields of news editing/producing, anchoring and reporting, preferred. Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Compensation Range $18.69 - $30.00 per hour. Hourly rate will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
