DEPARTMENT: Extrusion

JOB TITLE: Operator Level 1

REPORTS TO: Department Facilitator with direction from Team Captain

SHIFT DAYS/HOURS: Sunday – Tuesday 6 am to 6 pm, every other Wednesday.

The general purpose of this position is to operate the BLH press in the extrusion department. Operation of other machinery in the department may be required.

What you will be responsible for:

• Operation of the BLH/UBE press including set up for specific products.
• Detect, analyze, and solve problems that may arise.
• Assist in making critical decisions regarding whether or not to continue to run a die
• Responsible for maintaining all measuring equipment/tools which is associated with the job
• Perform quality checks on material being extruded
• Perform all daily AM’s associated with the press
• Work with little or no supervision.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Press certification required (80 hours minimum training on the press with a certified
• Press operator and pass the written test – Training provided)
• Basic computer skills
• Basic understanding of Aluminum Association Standards
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and travelers
• Ability to understand and have experience using Applied Stats and ASCONA measuring system
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to others
• Ability to work with measuring tools/devices such as micrometers, calipers, squares, protractors etc.
• Have an understanding of dies and their purposes
• Ability to Identify quality grade levels and determine whether the product being ran meets the customers quality expectations
• Ability to lift, push, and pull material weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to do basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers).
• Maintain excellent attendance.

Required to Have:

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Must be able to pass company background check and drug screen.
