Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Salary Range: $26 – $31 (DOE)

Location: Santa Maria, CA

Department: Finance

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Specialist is a financial professional who keeps accrual records ensuring that invoices are paid in a timely manner. They will work with managers from different departments, so they need strong communication skills. They will help with month-end and year-end task.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Accounting Specialist includes: interfaces with managers ensure all vendor invoices are coded, vouchered, and paid accurately. Also will interfaces with sales, shipping and the cooler to ensure that customers are invoiced accurately, various adjustments are made promptly and cash receipts applied daily. A strong candidate will have a focused attention to detail, possess effective communication skills, good attitude, strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to work as a team with the ability to lead is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Accounts Payable
    • Voucher vendor invoices
      • Make sure expense coding is accurate
    • Weekly payment journals
      • Multiple payment types (check, ACH, wires)
      • Make sure accurate and timely payments
    • Monthly Close task
      • Reconcile all general bank statements
      • Book monthly general journals
      • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Accounts Receivable
    • Apply cash receipts in ERP on a daily basis
    • Daily invoicing in ERP and various customer portals
    • Collections
    • Credit Adjustments
    • Chargebacks and freight reconciles
  • Project oriented
  • Excel skills
    • Pivot Tables
    • Reference
    • Lookup and if statements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Multitasking
    • Meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
    • Work effectively with different department Managers/Supervisors
  • Other Duties as Assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a part of a collaborative team. Ability to prioritize deadlines & projects, including coordinating the efforts of multiple contributors, and establish time frames for completion of projects and assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to embrace and follow the Bonita Packing Co. Employee Handbook. Ability to interact constructively and employees at all levels, upper management, owners, and community members, with diverse personalities and cultures, exercising sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy with an emphasis on flexibility, customer service and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, including effective writing skills to prepare correspondence, various documents and reports, and email with knowledge of correct usage of English language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows operating systems and related business and communication software and a demonstrated ability to learn and use various campus administrative computing systems and applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and 10 key with the ability to update and expand skills as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to meet Bonita Packing and department standards for attendance.
  • Knowledge of growing areas and western vegetable production.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must have the ability to walk, talk, hear, see, speak, concentrate, reach in all directions, stoop, bend, lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Use a computer, telephone and other equipment needed for the position
  • Possess the ability to reason and communicate clearly with or without reasonable accommodation.
