Job Description

The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer and senior staff member of the Bondurant Chamber of Commerce. This is not a position with the City of Bondurant. This position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the organization, including strategic planning, member services, community outreach, advocacy, and financial management. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill the mission and goals of the Chamber and drive economic growth and development within the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote economic growth in Bondurant by supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones.
  • Lead member recruitment, retention, and communication efforts.
  • Produce and distribute monthly newsletters and maintain regular and timely communication with members.
  • Provide marketing and event support, including managing event planning from inception to execution.
  • Utilize social media platforms for community engagement, marketing initiatives, and event promotion.
  • Design marketing materials and collateral to support chamber initiatives.
  • Maintain member databases, record income, and handle administrative duties.
  • Attend various meetings, including government and organizational gatherings, and advocate for the Chamber and its members in legislative matters at local, state, and national levels.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Engage with the community to identify and address relevant issues.
  • Collaborate with other Chambers and organizations to further the Chamber’s mission.
  • Actively identify and recruit board members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • At least two years of previous experience in a Chamber of Commerce or related environment.
  • Provide visionary leadership and direction to staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of state and local government operations and legislative processes.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Proficiency in volunteer management, program administration, and strategic planning.
  • Strong foundation in effective management principles.
  • Proficient in office software, graphic design tools, website management, online payment systems, cloud storage, virtual meeting platforms, and CRM software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise personnel effectively, including a Board of Directors.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proficient in grant identification and application related to chamber activities.
  • Experience with social media planning, implementation, and management.
  • Ability to design marketing materials and collateral.
  • Ability to collaborate with other community organizations and lead collaborations when needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:

  • The role requires sustained mental effort, public interactions, and occasional non-standard business hours, including nights and weekends.
  • The working environment is fast paced with exposure to public contact and some physical tasks.
  • Preferred residency within 30 minutes of Bondurant.
  • Ability to work from home with reliable high-speed internet and phone connections.
  • Average of 15-20 hours per week, with a pay range of $20-30 per hour based on skills and experience.
  • Travel within the community and region may be required.

The Executive Director plays a vital role in shaping the future of Bondurant’s business community. Although this is currently a part-time position, this position is possible to be full-time in the future based on recruitment and retention success.
