Bollinger Shipyards is Hiring a Workforce Development Coordinator Near Lockport, LA

Basic Function: The Workforce Development Coordinator develops positive long-term relationships with K12 schools, higher education, workforce boards, chambers, state & local industry representatives in addressing workforce needs and assisting with generating a talent pipeline for the company. Develops and implements outreach and workforce development engagement strategies for partnerships including the creation of training programs with various institutions that align with the company’s needs. Coordinates and conducts marketing efforts including presentations promoting company training programs available (i.e. interns, boot camps) to students and other audiences.

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years’ of work experience performing workforce development or related roles within the realm of generating a talent pipeline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development or related field.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships and/or developing training programs.
  • Knowledge of workforce development practices, systems, and program design in addition to training systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the shipbuilding/manufacturing industry as it relates to workforce skills and needs are a plus.
  • Experience working in and with industry or community partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to create and give presentations to large groups and individuals
  • Proficient in using MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Develops positive long-term relationships with K12 schools, higher education, workforce boards, chambers, state & local industry representatives and training providers in addressing workforce needs and assisting with generating a talent pipeline for the company.
  • Develops and implements outreach and workforce development engagement strategies for partnerships including the creation of training programs with various institutions that align with the company’s needs.
  • Coordinates and conducts workforce development projects and activities including marketing efforts such as presentations promoting the Company and the Company training programs available (i.e. interns, boot camps) to students and other audiences.
  • Meets with local and state industry representatives in developing programs to support workforce development.
  • Coordinates the marketing efforts of programs available, including outreach to regional/local workforce investment boards, career and technical schools, technical colleges in addition to communication and building relationships to promote programs by presenting to students, attending career fairs, etc.
  • Gathers information for additional funding opportunities to support workforce solutions and programming.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with training providers in order to develop necessary and responsive workforce solutions.
  • Works with various training/educational institutions to assist with the development of company training programs to include boot camps, internships, job shadowing and work-based learning.
  • Builds and maintains productive relationships with public sector, private sector and non-profit organizations to create career pathways for future talent.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with economic development entities, chamber organizations and other workforce development agencies to ensure alignment and execution of collaborative workforce strategies to include talent pipeline management.
  • Gathers labor market information, talent demand and skills requirements and translating data into meaningful information to create workforce development strategies.
  • Develops and updates a database of regional educational/training contacts in maintaining regular communication and on-site visits in presenting company programs/opportunities, etc.
  • Coordinates workforce and economic development projects and activities.
  • Schedules and prepares content, and facilitates meetings and community events.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive and innovative workforce and economic development outreach plan targeting individual, private, educational and other community stakeholders
  • Cultivates new partnerships and support existing partnerships.
  • Presents workforce development outreach goals of company in order to align with training & educational institutions in creating a talent pipeline.
  • Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
