Join a group of dedicated teachers with a passion for engaging students, supporting our undergraduate psychology curriculum, and broadening our cumulative fields of expertise. Adjunct faculty are non-tenure track faculty who teach contract-based courses. The Department of Psychological Science seeks candidates who are willing to teach part-time on weekdays during the Fall and Spring semesters, with opportunities for additional salary enhancements during the summer. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach any of the following undergraduate courses in person at Boise State’s main campus.
PSYC 295 Statistical Methods
PSYC 301 Abnormal Psychology
PSYC 309 Child Development
PSYC 351 Personality
PSYC 357 Introduction to Counseling Skills
Job Description:
The Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Psychological Science is responsible for teaching students in a designated area of specialization. The candidate will attend orientation and have the responsibility of determining grades for course requirements based on course objectives and criteria as defined in the course syllabus.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates effective teaching
Maintains expertise in teaching assigned coursework.
Applies appropriate, evidence-informed teaching methods.
Participates in Program and Department teaching initiatives.
Applies appropriate policies and regulations within the University, College, and Department.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others within the University, College, and Department.
Participates in activities promoting personal and professional educational growth.
Serves as a professional role model for students.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in psychology or a very closely related field (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, clinical/counseling psychology, community health, forensic psychology, etc.)
Teaching experience in higher education
The ability to teach in-person classes at our Boise Main campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in psychology or a very closely related field (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, clinical/counseling psychology, community health, forensic psychology, etc.)
Two years of teaching experience in higher education.
Salary:
Wage is based upon educational degree and number of credits taught.
