Job Summary:  Responsible for production of all baked items, ensuring timely and efficient completion of all local production, and fulfilling special orders to guarantee customer satisfaction. The Shift Lead is the go-to-person who provides support, direction and assistance to Bakery staff to ensure smooth daily operations; works side-by-side with staff; may also resolve customer complaints, and report safety or other issues to the Deli Manager or Assistant Managers.

Full-time employment requires open availability.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead worker for employees on assigned shift; assign tasks and direct workflow
• Report problems such as performance or attendance issues
• Model respectful communications with staff that are timely, clear, and direct
• Consistently prepare quality baked goods from standard recipes or customized for guests
• Follow department procedures for packaging, weighing and pricing bakery items
• Adhere to all Idaho laws regarding food safety and sanitation
• Keep bakery area orderly and clean
• Stock bakery items following guidelines for merchandising and rotation
• Maintain a working knowledge of the menu, vendors and products in the Bakery
• Prioritize time to ensure that prep work, stocking, cleaning and customer service are handled efficiently
• Treat employees fairly and consistently in a style appropriate to a cooperative work environment
• Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high-volume, keep Bakery operating to standard
• Assist guests with product selection, able to answer questions regarding preparation and ingredients

Requirements

• A passion for baking
• Minimum one year of professional baking and cake decorating experience required
• Pastry making experience preferred
• Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and work effectively as part of a team
• Enjoys working under a time crunch in a fast-paced environment
• Comprehends instructions, recipes and training materials
• Effectively communicates to customers and employees
• Able to perform simple mathematical operations
• Work history that exhibits increasing responsibility

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
