RF and Link Margin Engineer - Mid

Why This is an Exciting Role:

The Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) Defense Systems Division is a dynamic and growing organization with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of Boeing's Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program offices in Huntsville, Alabama. Programs include GMD Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) and GMD System Integration, Test, and Readiness (SITR) contract.

In this role, you will be a Radio Frequency (RF) and Link Margin Engineer working in an Agile, Digital Engineering environment planning and executing development and integration of various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components for the system enhancements to the GMD Weapon System.

Typical job responsibilities of a Radio Frequency (RF) and Link Margin Engineer may include:

  • Lead and support technical quality review of the development for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.
  • Lead and support technical quality review of the development of electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
  • Lead and support architecture development to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
  • Provides support to products throughout lifecycle.
  • Lead in Technical and Interface Control Working Groups with the customer and components.
  • Support supplier test and production activities to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
  • Supports Risk and Opportunity processes and working groups.
  • Perform coordination of element level technical reviews.
  • Perform resolution of cross-functional technical issues.
  • Supports trade studies and whitepaper development.
  • Train and coach others.
  • Work under minimal direction

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Qualifications: ​

  • Experience with system design in areas of Radio Frequency (RF) and Link Margin engineering.
  • Experience leading and applying systems engineering processes and principles
  • Experience/domain knowledge of complex system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation
  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and sustainment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in DOORs, Cameo, and SysML.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with requirements and verification/validation within Systems Engineering
  • Experience with or on, the GMD program, or within the Missile Defense Agency

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. ( An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start is required.)

This position requires clearing a background check and an enhanced Personal Conflict of Interest (PCI) requirements as a condition for employment.

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$120,000 - $220,000
