Health Awareness & Prevention Program Manager

Boat People SOS-Houston. (BPSOS-Houston) is a 501c3 community-based organization and an affiliate of Boat People SOS, Inc., a national Vietnamese American community-based organization, seeks a full-time Health Awareness & Prevention (HAPP) program manager to oversee and expand its Health Awareness & Prevention Programs including: Enrollment, Cancer, Clinic, Seniors, and Social Service Assistance project.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of an outreach plan for the Vietnamese and Asian community with the input of the HAPP team and Program Director. Implement the Plan within the timelines established; Recruit and train volunteers;
• Work diligently with staff and volunteers to ensure the needs of the HAPP programs are met;
• Educate and enroll community members on ACA marketplace, Medicare, Medicaid, Gold Card, CHIP, and other health coverages to increase awareness and enrollment in our community;
• Work with Director to oversee the HAPP programs: Enrollment, Cancer, Clinic, Seniors, and Social Service Assistance project;
• Develop, with the support of the Director outreach materials targeted to the needs of the Vietnamese and Asian communities:
• Weekly HAPP meetings to update accomplishments and challenges and meet with Director on team and program updates;
• Build local, state, and regional partnerships, specifically with other Vietnamese-serving organizations, health institutions, and health funders;
• Attend, conduct, and coordinate community events as needed and participate in partner meetings and Coalition;
• Aid clients in translation and interpretation of various documents, phone calls etc;
• Provide program supervision and strategic planning, training and technical assistance to staff and other service providers.
• Establish partnerships and collaboration with local program services providers.
• Attend continuing education trainings, presentations, and meetings.
• Work with Director on program outcome reports to funders; and
• Other duties to support and to develop the organization.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology, or relevant work experience, required.
• English and Vietnamese fluency and bicultural background preferred.
• Experience in community outreach, advocacy, training, and communications with underserved, culturally specific or limited English proficient communities.
• Ability to stay up to date with current news, trends, and studies.
• PC computer literacy, with proficiency in Word, Excel and Internet usage;
• Management and strategic skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $52,000.00 per year
