Configuration/Data Management Specialist – Junior/Mid

Location: Chantilly, VA

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for applying configuration and data management control disciplines to the design, development, and support of software, hardware, and other complex systems. Develops, analyzes, and maintains tools that support and automate processes for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's or solution's performance, functional, and technical attributes and its requirements, design, and technical specifications throughout its lifecycle. Develops standards, processes, and controls supporting product/solution configuration, data management, and release activities. Provides guidance and status to software developers, engineering staff, quality assurance, and configuration/release teams related to process and tool design alternatives, solution lifecycle processes, and compliance with established procedures for configuration/data management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be responsible for adhering to program Configuration Management requirements and ensuring that material is readily accessible to PMO members, responding quickly and effectively to requests for information, and making data accessible to program teams.

Develop or modify CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
Implement CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of life. Perform change control and configuration audits.
Assist in defining and implementing hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures, such as creating product build scripts and procedures, and integrating those scripts with the hardware and software build process
Reviews all software and hardware change requests submitted for approval to ensure completeness and compliance to company specific guidelines and industry best practices.
Reacts to periodic audits on conformance to CM practices for all Configuration items, document findings and develop and deploy necessary correction actions.
Ensures compliance to the ECP, and Deviation processes in an electronic environment.
Assists in the maintenance and development of CM policy and procedures to ensure that all projects maintain the integrity of complex software, hardware and documentation throughout the project life cycle.
Proactively addresses configuration management related issues and concerns across the program.
Ensures that existing change management and change control processes are strictly enforced throughout the development life cycle.

EXPERIENCE:

Motivated self-starter with the ability to look for ways to improve processes/procedures
Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS Project, SharePoint, MS Teams
Ability to grasp technical concepts
Exemplary customer service skills
Strong organization skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally with all levels of staff and outside

personnel

Understanding of CM, Quality Assurance, Change Management, and/or Audit role in systems development.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of experience performing in a CM role

This position requires a current/active Secret Clearance.
