We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Chief of Staff to join our Wealth Management team, reporting to the COO of our Wealth business. This role is located in New York (Hybrid)

What we do: 

As a leading wealth manager, BNY Mellon Wealth Management is focused on helping successful individuals and their families build, manage, and sustain their wealth across generations and market cycles. Through a unique service model focused on five Active Wealth practices — Investing, Borrowing, Spending, Managing Taxes, Protecting Legacies — they help clients in the U.S. and abroad achieve stronger after-tax performance to help maintain their wealth over generations.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Directly support the Global Head of Wealth Management with planning and execution of critical client and prospect meetings, events and follow ups.
  • Operate as a key liaison between the Global Head of Wealth Management and BNY’s CEO office on business requests, activities and project deliverables. 
  • Actively manage and execute key initiatives, Wealth Management Leadership projects and activities of significant impact to drive business growth. 
  • Manage highly complex special projects related to budget, business plans, risk-related items, communications (presentations/speeches) and implementation of policies, standards, processes, and/or strategic projects. 
  • Work closely with the Wealth Management leadership team and their designates to deliver on commitments with speed and create an environment of agility and accountability for the business to meet goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the Global Head of Wealth Management and the COO are well prepared for all internal and external communications and presentations. Often working in partnership with our marketing and communication partners. Manage standard recurring updates and presentation for regulators working in partnership with Regulatory Regulations team and leveraging information from the Wealth strategy team.
  • Individually contributing to the achievement of high priority business objectives.
  • Taking on special projects on an as needed.

In this role, you will gain exceptional knowledge of the Wealth Management business, our industry and firm and experience, first-hand, everything it takes to grow and provide exceptional service to a broad range of Wealth Management clients. You will form close working relationships with all members of our Wealth Management leadership team, as well as many of their senior leaders. And you will make connections with others across BNY Mellon. The vantage and exposure this role provides will position you well for a leadership job within BNY Wealth Management after your time as Chief of Staff. You’ll have the knowledge, experience, and connections to determine where you want to focus and make a lasting impact at the firm.

The successful candidate will demonstrate/possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or other master’s degree preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation and communication skills, able to work effectively at the Executive Committee level for a large public international organization.
  • 10 years of professional work experience, ideally gained in strategic/execution-oriented roles.
  • Experience in strategic consulting and/or financial services preferred.
  • High ambition and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to build productive relationships across a diverse group of colleagues.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $260,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
