BMZ USA is Hiring a Buyer/Planner – Manufacturing Near Virginia, VA

BMZ USA, Inc. develops and produces high-tech lithium-ion battery systems and is looking for an experienced Buyer/Planner – Manufacturing to join our procurement team.

In the last 5 years, we have made significant progress in transitioning BMZ USA from a sales office into a development and manufacturing company. We are looking for a well-seasoned professional with experience and the mindset to not only execute the daily tasks of purchasing and planning but also to take on new challenges as we continue to grow.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer/Planner Manufacturing supports a production program with an expenditure base of >$10 million per year for materials and/or services. The candidate is responsible for purchasing / planning functions directly associated with the specific program’s needs for indirect materials, and production requirements and services. The candidate ensures on time delivery and constant availability of material under consideration of customer demands and production capabilities. The Buyer/Planner Manufacturing supports BMZ USA’s Procurement Team and Operations to maximize the process efficiency and productivity. The candidate will contribute to KPIs for OTD, PPV, and Quality. The candidate is responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of production requirements and inventory control utilizing APICS practices.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Include the following, but other duties may apply:

  • Continuously monitor inventory levels to successfully fulfill customer orders and maintain the minimum requirement of raw material on hand.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments to plan material for production needs.
  • Regularly follow up on purchased material to ensure promised dates are met.
  • Expedite and/or delay material based on inventory changes or altered production schedules.
  • Be proactive regarding potential gaps in material readiness to mitigate delays and respond rapidly if challenges arise.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Generate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintain close coordination with plant engineering to ensure timely execution of product and service activities.
  • Work intently to control costs associated with shipping and logistics.
  • BoM maintenance, engineering support for part number generation, and assist senior buyers and project managers with NPI efforts.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree with relevant experience
  • 5 years of planning/procurement/supply chain management experience
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word
  • Strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and bills of materials.
  • Must be able to understand, follow, and improve internal processes.
  • Must be fluent in English and able to communicate with others effectively.
  • Must be able to follow directions and work independently.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must embrace the concept of the Internal Customer within the organization.

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • CPIM certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 and/or Quickbooks.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems.
  • Familiar with Global Logistics practices
  • Second language (preferably German or Chinese)

REPORTING TO THIS POSITION

  • None.

Working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST., Monday through Friday; occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required.
