BMW is Hiring a HVB Metrology Specialist Near Spartanburg, SC

- Provides engineering / measurement expertise to internal and external customers, including Engineering, Parts Quality Management and parts suppliers.
- Analyzes geometric problems and provides root cause analysis.
- Provides accurate CMM and VMM (3D color map) measurement data to the customer within established time requirements.
- Determines the necessary set-up and measurement method for investigations. Analyzes data provided to customers, and provides root cause analysis of issues.
- Develops and administers CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs with defined outcomes. Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity with latitude for unreviewed action and decisions defined within the scope of the problem, i.e. initiating single part measurements, cubing evaluations, or process investigations when the root cause of a problem is not clear upon initial dimensional investigation.
- Develops and provides training for newly hired metrology associates.
- Maintains group standards of testing methods utilizing advanced testing equipment (CMM, Laser Tracking, 3D Scanning). Manages HVB measurement plans, software, and measurement equipment. Manages planning, maintenance, calibration, and operation of all equipment in the assigned area.
- Represents the interest and needs of Plant Spartanburg in the launch process by working collaboratively with the product lines, central technologies, and the vehicle plant to develop sustainable solutions to engineering designs and product requirements.
- Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activities and future planning. Collaborates with process partners on Plant-wide PMP (Problem-Management Process), 8D, and CST (Cross-System Teams).
- Benchmarks BMW group plants and implements best practices.
- Operates with latitude for taking action or making decisions without supervision.
- Works independently to carry out assigned project responsibilities.
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
- Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- BA/BS degree (Technical field preferred);or AA/AS degree in a technical field AND 2 years of professional manufacturing experience (engineering, metrology, or dimensional quality field preferred).OR The equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in automotive manufacturing, metrology, and/or dimensional quality field.
- 5 years of CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) or dimensional measurement equipment experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of experience reading blueprints.
- 3 years of CAD experience (CATIA preferred).
- 3 years of Metrology software experience (Polyworks and/or Calypso preferred).
- As applicable, per BMW training guidelines.
- Valid drivers license in good standing per BMWMC LLC vehicle use program guidelines.
- Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain one.
- Metrology or GD&T professional certificate (preferred).
- Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training (preferred).
- Blitz HV2 (preferred).
- 5 years of Microsoft Office skills.
- 5 years of strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) as proven through business application.
- 5 years of experience in developing and understanding 3D alignment schemes (preferred).
- 3 years of organizational skills as proven through business application.
- 3 years of problem-solving skills.
- Basic German language skills (preferred).
