Job Summary
Collection Specialist is responsible for the collection processes related to medical accounts receivable in support of multiple site locations. The Collection Specialist will proactively work assigned accounts to maximize accurate and timely payment.
Responsibilities
· Research balances and takes necessary collection actions to resolve in a timely manner.
· Research assigned correspondence; takes necessary action to resolve request.
· Make routine collection calls on outstanding balances.
· Identify billing errors, short payments and resolves accordingly.
· Document notes in a clear and concise manner.
· Must be able to communicate professionally with direct reports, patients and insurance carriers.
· Maintain knowledge of and follows policies, procedures, Codes of Conduct and all Federal and state rules and regulations related to the position.
· Complete assigned goals.
· Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· 1 years of strong collection experience.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.
· Working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT coding, billing and collection practices.
· General office knowledge (Microsoft Excel and Word)
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Proper phone and email etiquette
