Job Description

Purpose of Bluffton School of Dance

Bluffton School of Dance is an elite dance studio in Bluffton, SC that focuses on giving Children in our Community the Courage to Follow their Hearts wherever they lead them. We do this by providing multi-level dance classes for ages 2-18 that teach dance technique in an age-appropriate and responsible manner while challenging our students to face their fears of performing, step into their own independence, take control of their own success and celebrate their beautiful and unique individuality. Through the Bluffton School of Dance, children gain more confidence, self-respect, focus and the highest level of dance technique available in the SC Lowcountry.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a brilliantly knowledgeable and positive Dance Instructor who is passionate about the art of dance, organized in their work, extremely reliable, an outstanding communicator and a dedicated team player. Ages needed - PreSchool - High Schoo

In this role, you will support the Artistic Director achieve the vision of Bluffton School of Dance by following the studio’s progression and curriculum and also adding in your teaching style, experience and personal energy.

Outcomes and How Your Success will be Measured:
Dance Instructors will use their experience, knowledge and positive energy to instruct and inspire dancers ages 2 - 8 yrs old. You are bringing your skills and talents to a company who strives to empower children to thrive in the arts and builds their courage and confidence so that they can make a profound difference in their community and in whatever they do both in and outside of dance.

In this role you will:

● Follow the BSOD Curriculum and Expectations for Progression at each level of Dance
● Instruct Dancers in a variety of ages and dance styles
● Choreograph Dance Routines for Special Occasion Classes, Recitals and Local Performances
● Pick, Edit and Share Music for Choreography
● Meet all deadlines set forth by Directors for Performances, Events, Class Admin Duties, Payroll, etc
● Attend all Team Trainings and Retreats - in person, online and via recording
● Maintain and expand your own dance/body knowledge to help bring more to your classes
● Communicate with the Directors/Front Desk regarding Student/Parent Issues, Questions or Celebrations
● Answer questions in BSOD and around Town relating to our programs with the intention of enrolling prospective students into our dance family and retaining current students at BSOD.

● Attend Spirit and Studio Events throughout the Year
● Follow the Progression of Individual Dancers and give positive, nurturing feedback throughout the year
● Follow the Progression of Classes and reach out for support and ideas if they start to fall behind
● Collaborate with the Directors and fellow Faculty members to provide a beautiful and memorable experience for all BSOD Dancers
● Work Backstage during Performances
● Assist during student intakes / program launches as well as creating a beautiful
● onboarding experience for new clients.
● Proactively maintain relationships with families with the intention of bonding
● families to our studio and programs for long term retention.
● Evaluate, Recommend and Progress Students with the goal of retention and building confidence in each individual while maintaining BSOD’s high standards of excellence, age-appropriateness and safe training.
● Use all BSOD technology and communication channels to stay informed and to collaborate with fellow Team members

● Be really passionate about inspiring the next generation of dancer who’s intelligent about their training, respectful of their body and mind and supportive of other dancers in their class

● Be an extension of the studio owner’s vision and train dancers in a manner that’s challenging, well-rounded, exciting, safe and positive

● Bring your knowledge of dance and performance techniques to dancers ranging in age from 2-8 years old in a variety of styles including Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theater

● Be happy to work and joyful to see students/customers walk through the door
● Want to be involved in duties outside of the studio rooms such as helping to navigate the lobby, give tours, work performances, parties, community service events, etc

● Have a true desire to serve. Our mission is to continually make it easier and more enjoyable for parents to have their kids in an after-school/weekend activity. Details:

Start Date: Negotiable Start Date for Training in April - July 2024; Non-negotiable Start Date is July 27, 2024

Hours Per Week: 4-10 hrs

STUDIO HOURS:

Monday-Friday 3-8pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm

**All Team members get at least 2 days off per week**

Location: At Bluffton School of Dance 123 Persimmon Street, Bluffton, SC.

Rate: Hourly Rate Ranges from $18-35/hour; TBD based on experience
