- Staff would need Intermediate to high-level experience with Excel.
- Staff would need to be able to review and understand annual financial audits for a municipal corporation and also understand Oregon’s K-12 chart of accounts.
- Staff will compare audited financial statements to data submitted in a data collection for 216 entities (197 school districts and 19 education service district) statewide and identify, report, and work with staff to make corrections as needed, where typically ~50% of the reported data requires some level of correction.
- Data collections entail hundreds of thousand rows of data.
- Absolutely critical is a high-level of comprehension, where due to compressed timelines and complexity of the work, ability for repetitive training will be very limited.
- Staff will need to be able to perform under stressful circumstances, where there is heightened complexity and shortened timelines for this project.
- This project has big scope and scale ramifications if project deliverables and timelines are not met, where this project impacts both federal and state reporting and funding.
- Any delays in the timely delivery of this project could be catastrophic for the State of Oregon.
- Attention to detail is absolutely critical in this work, where one misplaced zero in all of the data can result in millions of dollars being misappropriated. E.g., $30,000,000 should be $3,000,000 would result in a $27 million misappropriation if not corrected - and vice versa.
- Absolutely critical for the staff to have excellent communication skills, in both written and oral form, where understanding and relaying information is paramount to the project’s accurate and timely delivery.
- Staff will work independently in a remote setting via virtual connection: Mon. - Fri., 8 to 5.
- Independent work and self-management skills are key for success.
- Staff will work with a small team in a shared effort, so there are dependencies and ongoing shifting priorities.
