Systems Engineer, Product Owner

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $140,000 - $171,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is not a remote position.

Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

Position Description:

We are looking for a Systems Engineer, Product Owner to function as the data integration product Owner on our rapidly growing engineering team. As data integration product owner, you are a professional with hands-on technical and domain expertise. The ideal candidate is a motivated product owner and systems engineer with a strong understanding of core engineering concepts. As our data integration product owner, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders and system users to understand challenges and pain points so they can be addressed to increase system performance and organizational effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Communicating the scope and state of work, identifying issues, and anticipating roadblocks.
  • Translating customer requirements into actionable items.
  • Managing and taking ownership of assigned work.
  • Defining iterations and Jira stories for development efforts.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling development efforts based on project roadmaps.
  • Providing support to customers and company programmatic and development planning efforts.
  • Distributing tasks to matrixed development teams across multiple efforts.
  • Providing support to Program Managers during weekly status tag-ups with customers.
  • Contributing to Program Manager's vision, roadmap, etc.
  • Working directly with Project Development Lead and Scrum Master to build 'the right thing the right' way according to customer specifications and project timelines.
  • Working collaboratively as a member of a cross functional team to assist other domain product owners in the integration of new data sources.
  • Engaging with all stakeholders to keep them informed regarding project and data integration status and timelines.
  • Supporting design and architecture studies for customers.
  • Documenting work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and teammates.
  • Collaborating with cross-domain teams in research.
  • Proactively and thoughtfully seeking clarification and asking questions as needed.
  • Assisting technical leads in assessing the conformance of new data sources, services and schemas.
  • Taking responsibility for personal development.
  • Customer engagement skills and ability to work directly with government program offices and contractors representing government offices, commercial, and academic institutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous direct government (Military / Civilian) coordination experience desired.
  • Broad operational Joint / Combined Space, Air and/or Maritime domain experience required.
  • Work history with platform instruction, delivering briefings or training (formal, instructional, or OJT) highly desired.
  • Process development and improvement.
  • Ability to lead through peers.
  • Hands-on experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, such as Confluence and Jira.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, work effectively, prioritize, and deliver on multiple competing PM and customer priorities.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development framework and methodologies.
  • Possess stakeholder management, engagement, and collaboration skills along with a growth mindset.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator - clearly articulates complex concepts and tailors communication based on the audience.
  • Identifies underlying and relevant concepts and patterns in complex situations.
  • Independently identifies, prioritizes, and escalates unforeseen issues.
  • Personally, and professionally resilient - tolerates ambiguity or uncertainty well in a changing working environment.
  • Displays a strong sense of ownership for projects.

Required Education 8 years of systems engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree OR associate degree with 4 additional years of military or civilian analysis or operations beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 12 additional years of combined engineering and space operations experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
