Job Description

Summary: Active in the day-to-day preventive maintenance, repair, and fabrication necessary to maintain facility shredding machinery including conveyors, shredder, tools, heavy equipment, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of processing/shredding equipment: compressors, conveyors, shredders, screens, electric motors, electric tools, and air tools.
  • Rigging, lifting, and relocating a variety of complex, heavy machines, equipment, and components.
  • Operating personal lifts and material handling tools.
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes are capable with respect to quality specifications.
  • Performing unexpected repairs.
  • Performing assigned duties with little or no supervision or instruction.
  • Applying knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work.
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical prints, diagrams, and technical repair manuals preferred
  • Knowledge of machinery and tools used, including: torch/welding equipment, minor electrical work, hydraulics, and hand tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and repair as necessary.
  • Ability to make steel fabrications via measuring, cutting, bending, and welding.
  • Knowledge in the general repair of processing/manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and implementation of safety regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees in the facility, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willing to share ideas, techniques, and procedures with coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Walk, sit, stand, stoop for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
