The Finance Systems and Data Manager oversees and provides support for finance software systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported applications. This role may also plan and implement policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. This role will also help to optimize our core processes and systems, maximising value and use, ensuring system capability meets current and future needs. Finally, this role will be expected to keep up to date with industry trends, newer platforms, emerging technologies and assess applicability, business readiness and benefits to the business.

The Finance Systems and Data Manager will also provide project management for strategic finance projects within BNA and will help to create and implement PMO best practice across North America Finance. Establish standardized project management methodologies, tools, and templates. By promoting best practices, ensure that projects are executed consistently and efficiently across the organization.

As the Finance Systems and Data Manager you will:

Financial Systems Platform Administration

  • Identify efficiency improvement initiatives of highest impact processes and prioritize these to deliver step change
  • Identify effectiveness and efficiency improvement initiatives in reporting and analytics and prioritize these to deliver step change
  • Ensure all improvement program initiatives:
    • Deliver governance and security protocols
    • Are reusable, scalable and resilient
    • Use sound change management methodologies
  • Provide Finance system administration support OneStream, Blackline, UI Path, and other North American financial systems as needed.

Finance Master Data Management

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the management of financial master data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the integration of financial master data across different systems and platforms, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and operations, to identify and resolve issues related to financial master data.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to assess the accuracy and completeness of financial master data, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on financial master data processes and systems.
  • Stay informed about developments in financial regulations, standards, and technologies, and make recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Analyze data trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on financial master data management, providing guidance and expertise to internal stakeholders as needed.
  • May serve as a point of contact for external auditors regarding financial master data-related inquiries and requests.
  • Coordinate data management effort with the regional manager of enterprise data.

Project Management

  • Improved Decision-Making: data collection, analysis, and reporting; provide valuable insights to stakeholders and management. This data-driven approach aids in making informed decisions about projects, resource allocation, and strategic direction.
  • Risk Management: identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with projects. By having a centralized view of all projects, they can anticipate potential issues and take proactive measures to minimize their impact.
  • Enhanced Communication: act as a communication hub between project teams, stakeholders, and management. Clear and effective communication is crucial for project success, and PMOs facilitate this by ensuring information flows smoothly among all parties.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: track project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs). This enables the identification of areas needing improvement and allows for timely adjustments to keep projects aligned with business objectives.
  • Alignment with Business Strategy: ensure projects align with the overarching business strategy. Prioritize projects based on their alignment with company goals, thereby maximizing the business value derived from these initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: By analyzing project outcomes and lessons learned, facilitate continuous improvement. Promote and implement changes and adjustments to project management processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness over time.
  • Coordinate with regional IT security manager to ensure that all financial data and systems adhere to security requirements.

Job Description

The Finance Systems and Data Manager is a member of the North America Finance team. The Finance Systems and Data Manager contributes to our purpose by supporting BlueScope North America’s long term financial performance, strength, and integrity through ensuring robust and efficient finance systems and processes are in place across BlueScope North America. Additionally, this role will help to drive transformation of the finance function by leveraging data and technology.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10 years of financial systems and data management
  • Experience with Project Management
  • Data analytics experience
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and master data management tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify underlying trends and patterns.

Desired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some or all of the following qualifications:

  • CPA certification
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 12 years of financial analysis experience
  • Oracle experience
  • PMP Certification
  • Project Management Experience
