The Bluemont Hotel is looking for Staff for our Events Department, which hosts everything from Wedding Receptions to Conferences. Event Staff duties vary depending on the situation, but focus primarily deal on setting up and taking down event spaces, bartending, assisting guests, and ensuring that our guests and clients have the best possible experience with our hotel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Delivers excellent and professional customer service for all guests and clients.
Assists in the set-up and takedown of event spaces per the client’s specifications, including moving tables, chairs, and other furniture as necessary.
Cleans spaces in between events, including vacuuming, removal of trash, wiping down windows.
Sets up and provides snacks and beverage services per the client’s specifications.
Bartends at the portable bar in event spaces. (Details below. Opportunity to cross-train in hotel bar available)
Customer service, restaurant, or bar experience a plus, but not required.
Requirements: Can lift up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. Must be willing to work late nights, or early mornings, on occasion.
Bartending duties:
1. Great guests pleasantly as they approach the bar; promotes house drinks and utilizes upselling skills whenever possible to maximize revenues.
2. Prepares beverages requested by customers or servers according to standard operating procedures establishing proper proportions and ingredients to control cost and provide a consistent product to the guest.
3. Maintains clean an organized work areas to maximize efficiency; sets up the bar and back bar according to established procedures.
4. Monitors guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notifies management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; checks identification whenever the age of the guest requesting and alcoholic beverage service is questionable.
5. Sets up portable bar including all liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware and supplies; inventories unused liquor and beverages.
6. Obtains, counts and secures bartender’s bank; receives cash payments from banquet guests; give accurate change and balances cash drawer at end of shift.
