Job Description:
The Interpretation and Translation Professional will be required to conform to high professional standards to facilitate the communication between the United States, foreign officials and others, in bilateral and multilateral meetings, consultations, receptions, conferences, and adjunct events. Specifically, the professional will be required to interpret in real-time conversations, as well as translate documents from Pashto/Dari to English and from English to Pashto/Dari. As needed, the Interpretation and Translation Professional shall accompany government officials and their team domestically and internationally to countries including, but not limited to South and Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Job Requirements:
The contractor shall have the following skills:

• The contractor shall provide support services that include interpretation and translation of spoken and written from Pashto and Dari into English, as well as from English into Pashto and Dari.

• Minimum of three years of Pashtu and Dari simultaneous interpretation experience preferred.

• Must be able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have broad enough vocabulary that he/she rarely has to ask for paraphrasing or explanation.

• The contractor shall have good one-on-one inter-personal skills and exercise complete confidentiality of the information shared during the events.

• Minimum language proficiency of 4/4 on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Scale preferred

• Certification from the American Translators Association or equivalent preferred

• Knowledge of and familiarity with automated translation equipment preferred
