Bluebird Family Eye Care is Hiring a Part Time Optometric Technician Near Blackfoot, ID

We are looking for a part time Optometric technician who is able to work Wednesday and Thursdays and occasionally fill in. Ideal candidate will have a positive outlook and attitude. Experience as a medical tech is preferred but not required. Please be willing to provide customer service that is over and above what is expected. Must be able to willing and able to follow written procedures. Candidate will have strong attention to detail. Ideally be flexible and willing to grow. Have fun and be a good team player.
Optometric technicians at Bluebird Vision Wellness are responsible for providing the initial assessment for our patients in an efficient, consistent, and professional manner. Technicians are an extension of our doctors and should act accordingly. Bluebird Vision Wellness provides full training for this role to qualified candidates. Qualifying usually means a background or experience in customer service or another aspect of the medical field. It is important that you are a resident of Blackfoot or very close by.
Patient-Oriented Responsibilities:
  • Pretesting.
  • Optos.
  • Visual Fields.
  • Autorefractor.
  • Blood Pressure.
  • IOP.
  • Neutralize existing patient eyewear.
  • Bring the patient to the exam lane and bring up pretesting information in EHR for ease of access for the OD.
  • Answer incoming phone calls.
  • Insertion and removal training for new contact lens wearers.
  • Notify patients of the arrival of their contact lenses in a timely fashion (i.e. within 1 business day).
  • Other responsibilities are not mentioned here as they arise due to patient or practice needs.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Clean equipment between or in front of patients.
  • Document scanning.
  • Place contact lens orders for patients.
  • Ensure diagnostic contact lens stock is replenished weekly.
  • Accurately file patient charts, and keep the room organized.
  • Write up pre-test sheets for the following day.
  • Other responsibilities are not mentioned here as they arise due to patient or practice needs.
