As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, engineers, you will design structures for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on the design of the Stage 1 Tank. The team is hiring Structural Design Engineers at levels 2, 3 and 4 which vary in professional experience and skills. Candidates experience and qualifications will establish level. Employees will report to the Manager of Mechanical, Materials & Structural Engineering within the Stage 1 Tanks team.

Responsibilities:

• Support or lead engineering scope to close including detailed design, engineering release, procurement and test
• Maintain and revise released drawings and analysis based on engineering change requests from within Blue Origin and outside Suppliers.
• Create or support non-conformance dispositions during fabrication and assembly of hardware.
• Generate or modify 3-D models, component drawings, assembly drawings, and interface control documents.
• Perform or facilitate emergent analysis for non-conformances
• Generate or update documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardware.
• Participate in subsystem level testing including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis.
• Support component specifications and participate in Supplier meetings.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams in Florida Manufacturing Complex.
• Participate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.
• Work with multi-functional teams across multiple work sites that include design, analysis, materials, processes, structures, fluids, systems, procurement and manufacturing.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree or higher in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field.
• 3-5 years in professional engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, stress/strain, statics and finite element analysis.
• Experience with large primary or secondary structures
• Experience with material selection, compatibility and metallic manufacturing techniques & product forms (e.g. sheet metal, machining, etc).
• Familiarity with tolerance, GD&T and design for manufacturability.
• Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software.
• Strong product data management (PDM) skills (e.g. Windchill, TeamCenter, etc).
• Hands on experience with hardware "on the production floor" and/or "in service"
• Ability to travel 0%-20% of the year to Suppliers and Manufacturing Facility in FL to support manufacturing as needed.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

• M.S. degree or higher in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field.
• ProE/CREO and Windchill experience
• Familiarity with buckling, fatigue and/or fracture failure modes
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project or another equivalent schedule software
• Familiarity with budget management
• Experience in risk management and consolidation of technical data for presentation to senior leadership

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $75,510-$105,714
