Blue Origin is Hiring a SLD I&T Project Engineer - Lunar Permanence (R39134) Near Space Coast, FL

Lunar Permanence: This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. 

As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will work at the intersection of program management, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and integrated supply chain within our Lunar Integration and Test (I&T) team. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of spacecraft assembly, integration, and test, so one will build upon any experience in those areas. We are seeking a proactive, service-oriented individual with excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and analytics skills who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for managing, with direction, the project scope of flight vehicle production for both internal and external customers. This includes developing, managing, and reporting on resource-loaded schedules, production budgets, staffing needs, program risk, and variances to the plan. You will organize the team by leading our agile management efforts in Jira and Confluence. You will interface directly with our NASA customers and every team building our lunar architecture. This role supports and shapes major technical efforts such as program reviews and deliverable products by setting clear expectations to meet these milestones and gathering inputs from across the team and creating a final product.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing project leadership in support of Blue Origin’s Lunar Program initiatives. This role will follow the product from early concept development, through design reviews, and into production.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with I&T Engineers and Program Management to develop and maintain Project Schedule(s) within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
  • Manage, identify, and track, hardware status, supporting both internal and external demand
  • Track budgets and implementation of capital equipment and facility projects
  • Collaborate with all departments to access and collect data that informs decision making
  • Interface with NASA customer to provide schedule and insight for testing efforts
  • Maintain software tools, analytics, and reporting to highlight performance metrics and other key information
  • Maintain oversight and identify risks and opportunities
  • Partner with business office to ensure timely delivery of product to customer
  • Manage key program metrics (and associated reporting tools) in areas such as: Budget, engineering schedules, equipment schedules, procurement schedules, production schedules, program management status reports, and resource plans

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or similar), Business Administration, or Operations Management from an accredited college or university. ABET is preferred but others will be considered
  • Motivated Early Career professional with training or experience in test engineering or project management
  • Desire to learn project management, new processes, test engineering, and spacecraft development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Sharepoint, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in test engineering or project management
  • Experience with aerospace development, production, or operations
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Exceptional with Excel and manual data analysis
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Experience shaping plans for a product from concept development into production
  • Self-starter, strong bias for action, and team builder
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Experience with some or all the following tools: Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, CREO, Windchill, Confluence, Jira, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, Power Query, Power Pivot
