Blue Origin is Hiring an I&T Technical Project Engineer Near Space Coast, FL

Lunar Transportation: This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers as a Technical Project Manager supporting Lunar Operations Integration team. The Lunar Operations Integration Team ensures all the Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in Lunar Transportation are integrating with Operations Organization and other support functions to be successfully in their manufacturing and supply chain activities. This includes performing capacity analyses, labor and headcount estimates, annual and multi-year planning, cross-BU financial authorizations, build and flow analyses, and make/buy decisions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with product leads and operations counterparts to develop plans that support product manufacturing and supply chain activities that meet the programs’ needs
  • Assist in the preparation of Program Management Review, Monthly Activity Report, Weekly Status, and Daily Progress Checks to help communicate inwards and outwards across the organization.
  • Contribute to quantitative strategic plans and schedules to ensure the targets are met and measure performance to plan. Track progress against the plans.
  • Provide inputs and coordinate authoring of strategic documents and memoranda on topics of growth, integration of processes and facilities, trade studies, and other issues important to a growing aerospace manufacturing operation.
  • Develop systems to track and document hardware status, supporting both internal and external demand
  • Collaborate with business office on program demand and operational risks
  • Develop, and document processes by which Lunar Transportation programs will integrate with Operations, supply chain, and other support organizations at Blue Origin
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Track key program metrics (and associated reporting tools) in areas such as: Budget, engineering schedules, equipment schedules, procurement schedules, production schedules, program management status reports, and resource plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Industrial engineering, Systems engineering, Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Electrical engineering, Data Science, Computer science, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • Analytical, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Experience soliciting requirements, documenting problem statements, and communicating to leadership and technical teams
  • Experience developing and managing schedule and budgets
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production processes throughout the lifecycle of products
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Engineering and project management experience applied across the lifecycle of products
  • Experience in development and production of low rate/highly engineered products
  • Strong data analysis skills, scripting, database queries, visualization
  • Experience with MS Project, Excel, Tableau, P6, Jules, AirTable, CREO, CATIA, Windchill
  • Hardware manufacturing experience with structures, fluid systems, mechanical systems, or avionics systems, including but not limited to: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, machining, welding, surface coatings, harness/cable routings, or composite structures.
