This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.
As an Engines Test Operations Engineering Manager in a matrix organization, at Test Stand 4670, you will lead a hardworking and accomplished team of rocket engine test engineers and develop team members to support current and future program needs. You will be responsible for the employee’s entire Blue Origin life cycle, including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes, standard methodologies, and tool development around focused areas of test planning, execution, and development/production cycles, while prioritizing high standards of quality and safety within your team/organization.
In addition to the personnel manager responsibilities, you will provide direct technical support to your assigned engine program as an individual contributor (65% manager, 35% individual contributor). You will support testing, review test data, support Data Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, support anomaly investigations and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and hardware improvements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5 years of experience in liquid rocket engine testing, requirements, and specification
  • Proven track record leading teams while shaping company-level policies and strategic direction
  • Proven ability overseeing, guiding, and mentoring fellow engineers
  • Desire to work in a coordinated, fast paced, and dynamic environment
  • Track-record of promoting teamwork
  • Maintain employee training and development records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of engines components such as turbopumps, combustion chambers, injectors, regulators, check valves, as well as electric, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, actuators and other fluid system components
  • Ability to be self-directed/self-starter while balancing several tasks at one time
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and develop a culture of inclusion within a team and across multiple organizations
  • Hands-on worker with passion for operational excellence and flawless execution
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired
  • M.S. degree or higher
  • 5-7 years of comprehensive experience specifically in testing diverse range of rocket engines and/or their components
  • Familiarity with rocket engine system operations, verification process and risk management
  • Experience with anomaly investigations
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices
  • Experience in project planning and successful execution of projects to cost and schedule targets
  • Knowledge of instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples and accelerometers
  • Understanding of a variety of rocket propellants including cryogenic propellants
  • Experience in utilizing Failure Modes Analysis to guide the development of test campaigns.
  • Proven hands-on test engineering expertise within the Aerospace or a related industry.
