Blue Origin is Hiring an Engineer - Quality & Continuous Improvement II (R37489) Near Texas, TX

​As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin’s Vision. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production test and launch environments. 

Responsibilities:

  • Independently review of pre released work orders and completed work orders
  • Perform visual & dimensional inspections
  • Develop, Approve, Perform and document FAIs
  • Develop continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and conduct compliance surveillance assessments
  • Analyze and With little to no supervision report on manufacturing/assembly activities and trends
  • Develop actionable metrics to drive sustainable improvement
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action Board activities
  • Develop quality metrics in accordance with AS9100
  • Facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action
  • Support/Lead selection and execution of RCCA, FMEA, SPC, DMAIC, etc.
  • Monitor and assist in the performance of receiving activities
  • Independently review, identify, document nonconformance's against hardware, material and processes
  • Participate test/flight data reviews
  • Participate in all life cycle reviews (TRR, FRR, MRR, and PFDR)
  • Lead post test/flight inspection activities
  • Develop and lead Pre-Ship Review activities
  • Support field sites with quality engineer activities as required
  • Relevant experience with launch vehicles, rocket engines, aircraft and subassemblies
  • Lead and mature process surveillance activities

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience with engineering technical field, data analysis, a CQE will be considered.
  • Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Quality Assurance experience in production environment in the areas of aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation preferred.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production environment
  • Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
