Description

As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will be focused on developing production and R&D fixtures and tools as part of our mechanical design and integration team. You will be enabling cutting edge battery manufacturing equipment to produce next generation solid state cells. This is a hands-on, dynamic position with a team of scientists and engineers that have a shared passion to change the energy storage landscape.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and analysis of automation components and assemblies using analytical and computational tools.
• Prototype mechanisms and components using computer aided design software tools
• Build prototypes in our well equipped in-house machine shop
• Work hands-on with production battery manufacturing equipment
• Work with team members to integrate and scale battery production tooling
• Document and present your designs & analysis with team members, share your learnings and collaborate

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering
• 6 yrs experience in a professional engineering setting
• Be engaged to learn new processes, tools and techniques
• Analyze and optimize mechanical systems in manufacturing processes
• Have an exceptional talent for the prototyping toolchain DFM/CAD/CAM/FEA/CNC/3DP
• Fusion360 experience highly desired
• Excellent knowledge of engineering material selection and tradeoffs
• Engineering drawing, tolerance analysis and specification
• Analyze and optimize mechanical systems in manufacturing processes
• GD&T experience desired
• Sensor data acquisition system experience desired
• Excellent knowledge calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other precision tools
• Manual and/or CNC Mill and Lathe experience
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and other general fabrication tools
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and experience working with team members to overcome technical challenges
• An exceptional appreciation for and adherence to lab and work safety policies
