Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is Hiring an IT Audit Manager Near Birmingham, AL

Overview
Department Overview

Internal Audit examines and evaluates the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of the organization's activities. This department assists management and the Board of Directors in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by furnishing them with analyses, appraisals, recommendations, counsel, and information concerning activities and by promoting effective control at reasonable cost.

Primary Responsibilities

This position assists with various functions within the IT Internal Audit Department which include:

  • Examining and evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of internal controls
  • Assist all levels of management in the organization and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors in the effective discharge of their responsibilities
  • Provide analyses, appraisals, recommendations, counsel, and information concerning the activities reviewed and by promoting effective control at reasonable cost
  • Plan, implement, and oversee IT operational and/or financial audits with the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the system of internal controls in place for the Company's Private Business operations and its information technology
  • Provide guidance for and direct the IT work of others assisting with projects
  • Lead and develop staff, projects, resources and performance related to IT audit
  • Seek new solutions to improve identifying risks for the Company
  • Manage multiple audits/projects of staff each quarter
Summary of Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or other related technical field
  • Minimum of five years of experience directly related to auditing, Medicare, or healthcare administration
  • Computer security experience
  • Prior management and/or supervisory experience
  • Understanding of LAN networks, mainframes, databases, file structures, and new technology
  • Understanding of security requirements and business applications in the health care industry and/or a corporate environment
  • Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects and staff and to prioritize work
  • Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience selecting, training and motivating associates utilizing performance management
  • Experience evaluating business and computing risks and presenting results clearly to non-technical management
  • Experience documenting projects in a concise and thorough manner
  • Experience in internal control design and evaluation
  • High degree of problem solving and diagnostic skills to be used to develop creative, practical, and cost-effective recommendations for improvement
  • Demonstrated skills involving negotiation, persuasion, conflict- management, assertiveness and teambuilding
  • Experience in a position communicating information orally and written
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) preferred
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Work Location

The work location for this position will be hybrid (onsite/remote).
