Residential HVAC/Hydronics Installer

Position Overview:

A residential HVAC/Hydronics installer is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as hydronic systems in residential properties. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of HVAC and hydronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of HVAC Systems:
    • Install, assemble, and test heating and cooling equipment, including furnaces, air conditioning units, heat pumps, and ductwork.
    • Properly size and install air distribution systems, such as ducts, registers, grilles, and vents, to ensure proper airflow and temperature control.
    • Install and connect electrical components, refrigerant lines, and control systems in compliance with building codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Hydronic System Installation:
    • Install hydronic heating systems, including boilers, radiators, piping, pumps, and controls.
    • Size and install appropriate piping systems for hot water or steam distribution.
    • Connect and test hydronic components, ensuring proper operation and efficiency.
  • Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and replacing filters, lubricating motors, and inspecting electrical connections.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC and hydronic system issues to identify and resolve problems effectively.
    • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring as necessary.

System Testing and Commissioning:

  • Conduct system tests to ensure proper functioning, safety, and efficiency.
  • Calibrate and adjust HVAC and hydronic controls to optimize system performance.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports related to system installation and commissioning.

Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to all relevant safety protocols, building codes, and industry standards during installations and repairs.

Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, technologies, and regulations to ensure compliance and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements.

Customer Service:

Communicate with customers to understand their HVAC and hydronic needs and address any concerns or questions in regard to newly installed equipment.

Provide guidance and advice on system operation, maintenance, and energy-saving practices.

Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational or technical training is preferred.

Proven experience as an HVAC/Hydronics installer or technician in residential settings.

Strong knowledge of HVAC and hydronic systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and materials used in HVAC and hydronic installations.

Understanding of electrical and refrigeration principles and their application to HVAC systems.

Ability to interpret diagrams and technical specifications.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.

Effective communication and customer service skills.

Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and outdoor conditions.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
