BLT is vertically integrated and has invested in, developed, owned and managed in excess of 25 million square feet of commercial, hotel and residential properties across 26 states. BLT is also the largest franchisee of Sotheby’s residential real estate brokerage, with 28 offices and 1,000 /- real estate agents. Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team and oversee the financial operations of our Commercial real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, with a focus on Commercial real estate.Responsibilities of the Commercial Assistant Controller:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for the Commercial real estate portfolio, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Analyze and review financial data to provide insights to senior management, supporting decision-making processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Commercial portfolio
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the Commercial portfolio
- Collaborate with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information
- Provide oversight and guidance to accounting staff within the Commercial portfolio
- 8-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a real estate accounting role
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 2 years’ experience overseeing a team
- Proficient in Excel
- Experience with Sage, or similar accounting software
- CPA designation preferred, but not required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
