POSITION SUMMARY
Center directors manage the early learning program and set appropriate program and staff expectations. The Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the center, including operational and personnel management and ensuring WAC and state requirements are met. The Director will ensure that the center is providing quality and safe care to all children in their care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the operations of the daycare center, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Be on-site for the daily operation of the early learning program fifty percent or more of weekly operating hours up to forty hours per week
Comply with foundational quality standards
Develop a curriculum philosophy, communicate the philosophy to all early learning program staff and parents, and train staff to ensure the philosophy serves all children in the early learning program
Have knowledge of community resources available to families, including resources for children with special needs and be able to share these resources with families
Oversee professional development plans for early learning program staff including: maintaining staff records; Setting educational goals with staff and locating or coordinating state-approved training opportunities for staff; Observing and mentoring staff
Ensure the center is compliant with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Develop and maintain relationships with parents and other community members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Washington State ECE State Certificate PREFERRED Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
3 years of experience in a management role in a childcare center.
Completed DCYF Licensing Orientation (Washington Early Learning Child Care Licensing Orientation Module 1 and 2)
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of early childhood development

Negative TB Test results done within the last 12 months
1st Aid & Infant, Child and Adult CPR (expires every two years)
Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate (expires every year)
Food Handlers Card (expires every 2 years)
Safe Sleep Training (expires every year)
10 hours professional development progress documented annually.

Every thirty-six months, a center director must complete a minimum of ten hours of in-service training on "child development" and a minimum of ten hours of in-service training on "leadership practices."
