Job Description:

Our team of developers is growing, and we are on the hunt for a Systems Designer to join the Diablo IV team. Our backgrounds are diverse, but we all share a real passion for what we do. We believe that if you’re looking for a tight-knit crew that celebrates self-expression and embraces collaboration, we might be a phenomenal fit for you.

As a Systems Designer on the Diablo IV team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping and refining game systems, mechanics, and balance to elevate the player experience. Your focus will be on live game balance, contributing to the ongoing success of the game and ensuring player satisfaction.

What You'll do:

  • Assist in designing and developing gameplay systems, mechanics, and features to enhance player engagement and enjoyment.

  • Contribute to the continuous assessment and adjustment of game balance, including character abilities, items, enemies, and progression.

  • Collaborate on the design of itemization systems, including loot tables, rarity, and affixes, to create a satisfying and diverse item progression experience.

  • Support in creating and balancing player character skills, abilities, and talent systems to provide meaningful choices for character customization.

  • Assist in the design of character progression systems, such as leveling, experience, and skill trees, to deliver a rewarding and immersive player journey.

  • Utilize scripting tools to contribute to the creation, iteration, and balance of game mechanics and systems.

  • Collaborate with user-testing teams during play-balancing, providing valuable feedback.

What You Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in game design, with a focus on system design and balance, particularly in live-service games.

  • A solid understanding and passion for the Diablo franchise, with a vision for maintaining its identity while evolving its systems.

  • Familiarity with game development tools and programming/scripting languages.

  • Exposure to live-service game development and post-launch content updates is a plus.

  • Previous involvement in action RPG titles.

  • Ability to write high and low-level documentation using tools like PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.

We love hearing from anyone who is enthusiastic about changing the games industry. Not sure you meet all the qualifications? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of other under-represented groups tend to not apply to jobs when they think they may not meet every qualification, when, in fact, they often do! We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply.
