Blinn College is Hiring a Learning Center Assistant Near Brenham, TX

To perform the day-to-day operations of the Learning Center programs.

This is a 12 month, benefits-eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Yearly leave time includes:
  • 96 hours vacation
  • 40 hours discretionary

Position Details

Principal Accountabilities
Principal Accountabilities
  • Provide student tutoring at the college level.
  • Provide support for the technology available in the Center.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors including students, faculty, staff, and community members. Assist students with disabilities providing general assistance as needed. Answer inquiries and provide information.
  • Administer and proctor a variety of tests. Consistently maintain a secure testing environment by enforcing procedures including identification, electronic devices and other restrictions.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of tests.
  • Maintain faculty test files.
  • Prepare and organize various reports, records, and files.
  • Organize resources in center to facilitate their use by students.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and trainings as may be required.
  • Assist with training of tutors and office staff and creation of training material.
  • Operate a variety of general and specialized office machines, such as: computer, scanner, photocopier, fax machine and other office equipment.
  • Supervise tutors and student workers.
  • Keep all materials, equipment, and furniture in an orderly manner.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with instructors, staff, administrators and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach.
  • Attentiveness to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking ability.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in using the internet including e-mail and in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide high level of customer service.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.

Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree with emphasis on Science, Mathematics or other related field.
