Cafe Manager Position

Job description and Role : The Cafe Manager role is to uphold Blenders & Bowls day to day operations standards, while serving as working floor manager. As the Cafe Manager you are the team leader and voice of the cafe. You are responsible for the oversight of managing labor, cost of goods and staff, while maintaining Blenders & Bowls product quality and customer service standards. This includes, maintain flow of business, delegate tasks, solve issues and set the tone for customer service. You will be expected to manage store operations independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Enforcing Policy

• Operate cafe within Blenders and Bowls brand standards
• Lead cafe based on company policies
• Follow all health and safety guidelines set by local Health Department and company
• Act as quality control officer.
• Support upper management in implementing new policies and procedures

Crew Management

• Delegate and complete weekly checklists, prep, and cleaning duties.
• Source and interview applicants.
• Conduct new hire orientation.
• Onboard employees
• Verify employee documents are uploaded and current.
• Act as the lead trainer, in charge of effectively implementing B&B training programs for new hires.
• Continually develop staff to maintain a strong team that upholds company standards
• Monitor employee performance and report to upper management.
• Document evaluation process, including staff performance feedback.
• Offboard Staff
• Plan quarterly staff meetings.
• Cultivate a positive work environment
• Create weekly schedules within labor budgets
• Approve time off requests.
• Assure all shifts are covered and any last minute gaps are filled by manager or staff
• Make shift cuts when necessary. Ensure current and future flow of business is covered before cutting shifts or leaving for the day.
• Maintain employee records, including pay rate, job codes, and direct deposit information
• Submit by-weekly payroll information to upper management

Troubleshooting

• Address any customer issues as they arise - communicate any red flags to upper management.
• Assess and troubleshoot any technical issues on-site. Specifically, internet issues that affect TOAST, printers, phones, Sonos ect.
• Assure we have proper functional equipment and backup equipment
• Schedule routine maintenance and repairs with approved vendors
• Consistently look to improve line flow and increase efficiency throughout the cafe
• Performs any additional tasks to ensure smooth operation of the store
• Ensure POS, online menus, and cafe menus are all accurate and current
• Ensure toast is accurately reporting

Catering

• Drive catering and increase sales
• Fulfill large group orders and catering orders

Welcoming Environment

• Maintain positive customer experience
• Maintain a clean and organized café at all times, execute deep cleaning plans when necessary
• Work on the floor as team leader and set the standard for service.
• Oversee ticket times and make adjustments as needed. Ideal ticket time is under 3 minutes.
• Lead local marketing and promotions

Cost Management

• Monitor and adhere to company COGS, Labor, and Sales goals
• Forecast sales to stay within budget
• Utilize P&L Statements to meet goals
• Ensure toast is accurately reporting
• Delegate danger zone checklist.
• Manage and record inventory
• Complete weekly and monthly inventory sheets.
• Adjust recommended pars on the order sheets.
• Lead waste management strategies.
• Manage and check cash out sheets and daily cash drops.
• Manage cash box and register change
• Record and distribute staff tips properly
• Order from approved vendors
• Evaluate invoices and assure we are receiving credits when necessary

Communication

• Conduct daily shift huddles.
• Respond and give feedback on emails from upper management
• Engage in Trello communications.
• Attend weekly manager meetings
• Maintain weekly cafe communication boards
• Continuously engage in our cafe community, including building relationships with neighbors, sub-tenants, ect.
