ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following functions.

Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.

Use EFT such as Ability, Availity, Change Healthcare, and other methods to submit claims.

Use proper ICD-10 & CPT codes based on services rendered.

Resourceful Team player with a health care background.

Able to deal with ambiguity and support the office in completing day to day schedules

Review and reconcile insurance claims and payment records.

Ensure the patients medical information is accurate and up to date.

Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due for medical procedures and services.

Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information.

Maintain billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.

Research payment issues and communicate with other departments to resolve.

Identify possible low payments based on trends and history.

Assist with registering for payment portals or identify possible ERA/EFT options.

Audit work and ensure accuracy of information provided to customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year experience in handling billing and account receivables in a similar set up or related field.

Medical billing Certificate/ License required.

Training or background in ICD-A/CPT codes.

Ability to understand and practice bookkeeping and accounting terminology.

Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
