The Role

This role will work closely with R&D engineers to assist with new product development projects and provide in-field technical support for new products. The R&D Product Technician will work on electrical controls systems, and will have the ability to contribute to the development and support of mechanical products and equipment.

Points of responsibility include:

  • Collaborate with BlastOne R&D engineers, other staff and customers to identify and prioritize new product development opportunities.
  • Create new product prototypes, including coordinating the manufacture and assembly of prototype and production version products.
  • Undertake testing and validation of concepts, prototype and production version new products, including documentation and reporting results.
  • Support the transition of new products from development phase to production by providing new product support and training to BlastOne sales staff and technicians.
  • Support BlastOne technicians with the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of installed new products, including at in-field locations.
  • Administer IntelliBlast system devices, user access, device setup and ongoing system support, including remote access, web-based portal and mobile App.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • At least 5 years providing electrical control system technical support, including infield support for industrial products or equipment.
  • Proficiency with computers and networking and a fundamental working knowledge of electronics.
  • Hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting industrial control products.
  • A sound understanding of the industrial Blasting and Painting Industry with a working knowledge of related equipment and processes.
  • New product development or manufacturing experience would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customer facing experience.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing demands and priorities.
  • 2-year technical degree
  • Associates of Science in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Science
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset, with the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, including in-field with customers and other industry experts.
  • A quick learner who is collaborative and innovative and able to manage the inherent uncertainties of product development in controlled manner.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in line with strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent planning, organizational & critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate at all levels, Spanish ASL preferred.
  • Must be completely proficient with basic computer systems: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Sheets, etc.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/SolidWorks is an advantage.
