Blalock Dialysis Center is Hiring a Dialysis Nurse Near Houston, TX

JOBTITLE: Staff Nurse

REPORTS TO: Administrator/Director of Nurses, Education Coordinator, or Registered Nurse

SUPERVISES: Technical Personnel

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB: To administer quality professional nursing care to dialysis patients in accordance with established dialysis unit standards of practice under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse.

JOBFUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintains the highest quality of comprehensive patient care in manner appropriate to the age of the patient being served.

2. Maintains familiarity with and practices all dialysis unit policies and procedures.

3. Assists in maintaining a safe, secure, and aseptic environment for all patients and personnel through compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

4. Interacts with unit personnel and physicians to ensure optimal patient care.

5. Maintains knowledge of and is accountable for proper documentation of all care delivered.

6. Responsible for reporting and documenting all new or unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the Nurse Manager.

7. Administers all medications and IV’s according to the dialysis unit’s policy and procedures.

8. Responsible for assessing the educational needs of the patient and/or family, and educating them regarding end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.

9. Competent to perform all emergency procedures.

10. Meets clinical performance standards in the dialysis unit, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, through skills in assessment, formulating nursing diagnosis, establishing goals, planning, and implementing interventions and evaluating patient care outcomes.

11. Participates actively in the Quality Improvement Program.

12. Participates actively in short term and long-term patient care planning.

13. Understands necessity for and maintains cost control in use of patient supplies and equipment.

14. Ability to safely operate all dialysis unit equipment and to perform minor repairs of essential equipment as necessary.

15. Participates in staff meetings and unit in-service classes.

16. Assists in staff training and orientation as assigned.

17. Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned by the Administrator/Director of Nurses, Education Coordinator, or Registered Nurse.

18. Maintains a professional and neat appearance with regular hygienic habits to prevent workplace offensiveness.

19. Completes 5 hours of renal related continuing education per year.

20. Contributes to the fulfillment of the Dialysis Unit’s mission of corporate compliance by demonstrated, consistent adherence to the Standards of Conduct and Compliance Plan policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES:

1. Read, speak, and understand English.

2. Physical stamina to work without restrictions as needed including, but not limited to, lifting, bending pushing, and pulling patients and equipment.

3. Full range of motion and dexterity of all extremities.

4. Ability to function under stress, and independently problem solve.

5. Good communications skills to communicate with staff, physicians, patients, families, and other ancillary personnel.

6. Ability to show compassion to the patient and family.

7. Ability to comply with Regulatory Agency requirements with respect to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.

8. Competency to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for the dialysis patient after appropriate in-service training.

9. Have normal color perception.

10. Ability to be fit tested for a respirator.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR SIMILAR QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Graduate for an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.

2. CPR certification.

3. Current licensure with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.

4. Minimum of one year medical-surgical nursing experience required. One year dialysis experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
