Driver / Courier

Position Description

The primary function of this position includes but is not limited to the following (opening incoming mail; loading, transporting, and delivering items between sites;

prepping, scanning, indexing and performing quality control (QC) on documents; following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and business rules).

While Driver / Couriers may be assigned to perform one of the primary functions described below, they will also be cross trained to perform secondary duties according to business needs.

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma. Two (2) years in office or computer operations. Two (2) years related experience with driving and / or mailroom experience.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute with no more than two errors.
• Perform duties associated with basic clerical functions.
• Pick-up and delivery of materials (mail, envelopes, jackets, boxes, small office equipment, supplies, etc.) from designated locations driving a full-size van or other vehicle as appropriate.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Maintain vehicle for required services and adhere to safety and security rules.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver's license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Essential Functions :

Document processing requiring familiarity with document room terminology. Knowledge of proper methods and procedures such as document workflow and identification;

understanding simple data entry fields; selecting and identifying relevant data; labeling, jacketing, logging, assignments and all associated data entry.

• Provide assistance to FDA Division personnel.
• Perform file maintenance, including filing, checking order of volumes / files, and reorganizing volumes as needed.
• Open incoming mail processing and distribution.
• Photocopying and scanning.
• Lifting and moving standard boxes (40 lbs.).
• Loading, transporting, and delivering items between sites in a timely manner.
• Complete daily vehicle pre trip and post trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Must be able to accurately complete activity logs vehicle reports.
• Retirement and storage activities.
• Open incoming mail processing and distribution.
• Prepping, scanning, indexing and QCing documents.
• Daily use of office automation tools such as Microsoft Office and other common desktop applications.

Work Conditions :

Work is performed in an office environment and in a vehicle when transporting documents.
