We’re seeking a Rehab Service Technician to evaluate, build, repair and maintain complex rehab and durable medical equipment. Schedule is fixed during training and flexible work week may be available once training is complete. On-call rotation includes about 10 weeks per year where technicians take emergency phone calls in the evening and on Saturday and Sunday, typically no more than 10 calls a week, and time is compensated. The ideal candidate will have good communication and computer skills, experience with both hand and shop tools, be familiar with mechanical or electronic devices, and possess valid driver’s license and good driving record. Background in healthcare related industry is helpful.

JOB TITLE: Rehab Service Technician

REPORT TO: Department Manager

HOURS OF WORK: Flexible 7:00am – 6:00pm, Monday through Friday

1 week on-call rotation including Saturday and Sunday

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate rehab equipment for needed repairs
• Repair, modify, assemble and clean rehab and durable medical equipment per specs and manufacturer guidelines
• Implement and interface custom fabrications and stock parts on equipment
• Complete work orders verifying manufacturer, model, serial number, parts and details of work completed
• Obtain manufacturer quotes for parts prior to end of shift
• Obtain patient signatures on documents required for processing orders
• Instruct patient/caregiver on the basic use, set up or troubleshooting of equipment
• Communicates with manager, ATPs, customer service reps and manufacturers as needed regarding equipment
• Provide support to customer service and sales department regarding equipment
• Assist with scheduling service calls
• Properly log and maintain inventory of parts and equipment on-site and in company vehicles
• Ensures equipment is cleaned, bagged, tagged, logged and placed in correct location according to Blackburn’s policies
• Maintains company vehicle per Blackburn’s Corporate Vehicle policy
• Safely use and maintain power and hand tools
• Maintains a clean and organized work space
• Adheres to company policy on infection control and safety
• On call rotation for emergencies, Monday to following Monday
• Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by management

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

• Attends educational workshops
• Attends/conducts in-services on rehab equipment
• Obtain 10 CEU credits per year as required

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

High school education or equivalent. Familiarity with hand/power tools and use of apps on smart phone. Understanding of anatomical terms. Experience in mechanical or electrical assembly or repair of complex rehab mobility equipment preferred. Must have good problem solving, written and oral communication skills. Computer knowledge is required. Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Background in healthcare related industry is helpful.
