Position Summary

At Blackburn’s Dove Orthotics, we are always looking to strengthen our organization by adding the best available talent to our staff and retaining our valuable employees. We’re seeking a Repair Service Technician at our Dove Orthotics, Rochester New York Branch to repair and maintain customer durable medical equipment while providing technical support to our customer service center and sales department. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical assembly and/or repair of mechanical or electronic devices, familiarity with both hand and shop tools, good communication skills, and possess valid driver’s license and good driving record. Power wheelchair repair experience preferred. Background in healthcare related industry is helpful. Hourly starting rate depending on prior experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school education or equivalent. Experience in mechanical assembly and/or repair of mechanical or electronic devices. Familiar with both hand and shop tools. Must have good communication skills. Must possess valid driver’s license and good driving record. Power wheelchair repair experience preferred. Background in healthcare related industry helpful. Computer knowledge required.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

HOURS OF WORK: Flexible - 8:00 am 6:00 pm

* Provide technical support to customer service and sales department

* Assists Supervisor / Manager in scheduling and performing service calls in a timely manner

* Repair and maintain durable medical equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications wherever needed

* Obtain manufacturer quotes for all repair parts necessary prior to returning at end of shift

* Complete repair work orders with manufacturing make, model, and pricing

* Accesses up-to-date information from manufacturers on repairs and parts

* Adheres to company policy and procedure on infection control and safety

* Loads equipment onto delivery vehicle; ensures that all equipment and supplies delivered are clean, free of dust, and in good working condition; secures all equipment properly for transport

* Instructs client or caregiver on the basic use and/or set up of equipment

* Assesses whether repair is best performed in the home or at the repair shop

* Picks up equipment according to paperwork, segregating dirty equipment from clean and returns to designated area

* Obtains patient signature on necessary documents and returns forms promptly to office staff for proper processing

* Maintains company vehicle and assures vehicle safety. Ensures vehicle maintenance schedule is followed, Always wears seat belt. Keeps interior and exterior clean

* Assembly of all wheelchairs including stock, rental, loaner, sale

* Evaluation of wheelchairs for repair

* Returns defective and/or incorrect/ warranty parts to purchasing department

* Assists in keeping inventory information correct and accurate

* Perform cleaning/testing/troubleshooting of equipment and log notes into serial file

* Assists in conducting inventories

* Assists in parts ordering and receiving when needed

* Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by management

* Ensures that all returned equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to manufacturer’s specifications and company cleaning policies and procedures.

* Ensures that all returned equipment is bagged and tagged properly and placed in proper holding area

* Properly tags and bags cleaned equipment, returns in to its proper place, and logs all equipment properly

* Repair all cleaned equipment prior to returning to stock

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

* Attends in-services on safety considerations and infection control

* Attends educational workshops

*Attends in-services on new products and technology

* Avail self of audio and videotapes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
